Haiti

Haiti is a large, densely-populated, French-speaking country located in the Greater Antilles. Haiti represents approximately 1/3 of the island of Hispaniola, sharing the remainder with the Dominican Republic to its east. Historically, Haiti has had a tumultous political climate, far higher unemployment, crime and instability than most Caribbean nations. Infrastructure, government, social services, construction standards, technology access and the like are all quite third-world and challenging.

The recent earthquake set Haiti back even further than it was prior to the seismic event. Already considerably behind the curve in terms of education, economy, political climate and the like, Haiti is now likely to languish for decades forward, barring a radical turn of events.

Bear in mind that buying here is quite difficult, time consuming and fairly expensive, particularly for often hidden fees related to purchase. For these and other reasons, Haiti is a rare choice for real estate investment.
